All I want for Christmas….gifts to buy for jetsetters

I’ll refrain from talking about how the heck we arrived at this time of the year and instead focus on what the hell to buy for someone who loves to travel. Here’s a dose of inspiration to buy for that jetsetter in your life.
1. A book of inspiration
Treating someone to a guidebook for that place they’ve been banging on about for ages or for where they’ve mentioned visiting next year is always a good idea. I love opening up a book on Christmas and finding some inspiration. Wallpaper City Guides, Hg2 and LUXE city guides are perfect for the stylish traveller. If they’re into hip hotels, one of Mr & Mrs Smith’s guidebooks (Europe, the UK, Italy and so on) is a smart idea. They’re also look cool on the coffee table. Or if camping is more their thing, then Cool Camping books won’t disappoint.
2. A not-so-dull voucher
Sometimes vouchers show a lack of inspiration but I’d bet a voucher towards a stay at a Mr & Mrs Smith hotel (no, this post wasn’t commissioned by them. I’m just in love with their work) would go down a treat. If they’ve been good this year, double it up with one of their guidebooks. Alternatively a Eurostar voucher would always be readily accepted.
3. Keeping fresh – in style
I was introduced to Aesop when I stayed at the Olde Bell Inn in Berkshire, where the bathroom was filled with its goodies. The brand is luxurious and smells gorgeous. If you take one of these kits with you on holiday, you’ll score highly in the style stakes (or if you’re staying at a hostel, you’ll win. Or they’ll get nabbed).
4. Hip packing
I regularly get stopped and asked about last year’s Christmas present – my sleek, silver Marks & Spencer suitcase. They come in small, medium and large and I blogged about them here. For those with a larger budget, try Samsonite. Or for a stylish weekend bag, Missoni for Bric’s would light up any face on Christmas Day (and lighten the wallet).
5. The ultimate present…surprise!
Imagine waking up to find a guidebook to somewhere like…New York, the Maldives or India and then inside of them…flight tickets. Now that would be the ultimate present, wouldn’t it?
